Ok so let's get this party started then! www.twitter.com/cyphanEverybody post it on your facebook walls, in costuming groups if you're in any, retweet it to YOUR twitter feeds. I'm looking into how I want to make a fanpage for Cyphan. Because you can put invites/events within fanpages I believe, so that might just be it, or I'll change the settings around in the Cyphan group! p.s., the way twitter works with 'word of mouth' followings, are just how Facebook is. Based off of your friends list, you'll pop up in others for 'suggestions'. So add, follow, repost all that shit. We went up about 50 new followers in one day already, so let's do this! Remember, too, if you're posting anywhere ABOUT Cyphan, remember to link to either pages! While on facebook: "blah blah blah this is me typing a CYPHAN message" You can link to Cyphan by putting @ before Cyphan and it'll show your affiliation to them. Click it, and now it's linked IN your status. While on twitter: You can retweet, retweet with comment, or put in your posts too by simply putting @cyphan (or @cyphantic for Bollow, @ikearstin for me) xoxo

At some point, I'd say we should get a "Press Kit" created for sites like mine. Provide logos, the important details, etc., for quick posting on news sites. I'd also say set up interviews with you, Mike, whomever about 2 months prior. I tried to get this done with Mike this year, but I think he must have been a bit too busy for that with it being so close to the con.

That's where I think WCIU might be able to come in. I could ask my cousin if any press could happen to PROMOTE instead of REVIEW the con... Yay?

I'm looking into how I want to make a fanpage for Cyphan. Because you can put invites/events within fanpages I believe, so that might just be it, or I'll change the settings around in the Cyphan group! Twitter - - No problem there. Sounds like you're looking to do a Facebook Fanpage? If you are, facebook keeps 'changing' stuff around. I really hate that and it's very annoying. When i first started my studio's fan page I was able to send my fans updates about interviews as well as new images i've posted. Thing is, Facebook changed things and i'm not really sure how to send updates, post up interviews, etc. The fans just check back peridically. And i'd rather update them to make them aware of new content. So i'm in the process of figuring out how to just put everying into a whole new page. not a fan page or anything just a regular facebook page. I feel i get more control that way and have access to more stuff. but I beleive so do the fans. Perhaps I'm wrong in my opinion on facebook 'fan'pages. but they seem to be very frustrating to work with, in regards to actually reaching to the fans. If you have a better time with it, cool! I say go for it! The difference between a fan page and a regular page, you can assign admins to the fan page and the regular page only one person can have access to it. Unless you give the login and password to your staff. I would have interviews (Like Skyjammer said) with perhaps some of your upcoming celebrities. Brain teasers from the GF group, some sort of contest-promotion thing. etc. etc. heck what's real cool is posting up vids from various places. I know I saw about 3-4 video crews in there. so that was very cool. -River

My only concern making a page page is you can have a friend capacity! I don't want that

I do have photoshop! I'd be more than happy to make stuff. Everybody just give me pixel dimensions on what you want, and I'll make stuff soon (probably after Dragoncon).
120x30 100x100 435x75
etc etc

100x100 234x60 120x240 88x31 468x60
Those would be good for websites to use for linking purposes.

We met Michael at Transworld/HAA in St. Louis, he complimented us on our costumes and gave us a card and BAM we're at Cyphan.
There was a bit more to it than that but yeah, word of mouth works (and apparently flattery). It helps that we were treated really nice at every step and turn so now we're lifers. With Halloween coming up, I'd make sure to have fliers with Cyphan's date, location, and social media information up at every costume shop and related institution (including some haunted houses and theme parks).
I just managed to sell somebody on the con when they admitted their excitement of having one more excuse to dress as Sora and I responded "...and then you can go and hang out with an elf, Han Solo, and X-23." Genre's of the world, UNITE!
Kevin Siembieda would be proud.

Sora, Han, an Elf, and X-23? Doesn't get any better than that. kearstin - yeah you're right, there is that issue with the page-page. ugh. i wish that wasn't the case. As for the fan page, I did start messing with mine to see if it was challenging or easy to send updates, post inteviews, etc. It appears that FB has made it easier to send updates and information to your fans. I send one update to my fans and had a lot of hits within the last 24 hours. They've even made 'notes' better. I typically use notes for interviews and such. So in short, it should be real easy to do now. I remember about a year ago it was soo hard to do this stuff. Adding staff/moderators is a breeze too, but i'm sure you already know that . -River

Also, linking Twitter TO facebook and vise versa helps, too.
