Sticky posts are great, but unless the person viewing the web page knows about it (i.e. put some signs or mentions somewhere on the blog/site) they won't bother looking at it. In-short, If you're giong to do some sort of 'flashy, splashy, thingy' cool, then make sure the people visiting the site, blog, etc, know about it or have access to it. I agree that we can't have that automatically load up, that slows EVERYTHING. But we wouldn't want the effort of making this presentation, to be wasted either. Bottom line, would anyone be able/WILLING to do this? It's going to take time and effort to create this cool presentation and unless someone is willing to either A. Illustrate this then add music and soud bytes/effects or B. film this on a camera, then honestly whether or not it's a blip on the web page doesn't matter. So Bollow would need to figure out how he would want to detail the story of the Olympia and it's maiden voyage. The villian whose planning on thwarting the voyage, and the eventual escape would be detailed at the show more or less. I just thought of something Bollow. Since Saturday would be considered day 2, that would be the 2nd act. in the 2nd act, traditionally the 'heroes' are captured and by the 3rd act they get out and save the day. With that being said, maybe toward the end of the evening (at the Cyphan party) you can have the villian show up and capture you and one other person. Then at the closing ceremonies. You escape and thwart the villian's plans. This is of course you're not too hammered! LOL Maybe then do this during the middle of the party ok i'll shuddup now. -River

Be careful doing too many skits within the party, because it forces a lot of people to leave the dance floor.
Check the music thread for the Grooveshark playlist; we actually put in a short section where the villain could show up, hijack the DJ booth, and make the party a mini-mosh pit. The hero then shows up and overthrows him (you'll know which set of songs it all is).

Yeah the only time I'll be leaving the dance floor is to go get another drink. lol And that's what I'd be hoping for Kearstin. That's why I'm thinking we do it somewhat early in the night. Mosh pit sounds fun and all, but if it gets out of hand (and in my day they would) that may prove a problem. the skit wouldn't last long. perhaps only a few minutes. nothing too big. think of Nightcrawler, 'PAF'ing in, grabbign Bollow, and then 'PAF'ing out... or somethign to that effect. I honestly only see 3 skits, one at the opening ceremonies, one during saturday night, and one at the closing ceremonies. -River

Yeah I think the problem with people "believing" that story, is Bollow would need to be incognito the entire weekend until rescue day on Sunday. What if it was more something like Bollow OWNS something and it gets stolen. Like a treasure. Therefore HE doesn't miss out on the party, but this "item" can be missing for two days and then we miraculously find it Sunday all it saved the world is alive hahaha

How about the key to the boat? Hahaha, I have a real nice brass skeleton key we could use.

I see what you mean gang, Yeah, how about, in the middle of the party on saturday night, the 'engineer' comes in and says "Captain Bollow, the ship is up and running" and suddenly "POOF" the villian appears with some witty banter "my congrats captain on you and your 'valiant' crew" (doing my best Kahn impersonation). "I have in my possession the 'key' to your ship!" blah blah blah mosh pit (or something to that affect ensues) Now its' a countdown before the FTL drive warms up and we are doomed! Bollow has less than a day to find the key before the evil "CON" jettison's the passenger decks and takes the ship for himself. aaannnnnddd.... Come sunday morning, we have clues strewn about the convention (or get dealers involved) for con goers to figure out where "CON" is hiding. One lucky winner who is the FIRST to answer it correctly wins a prize at the closing ceremony and the Olympia's eternal grattitude. ok cheesy? cool? i dunno just thinking this stuff up as you guys feed the thread! -River

LOL, sort of.
But that would work if we had more than one villian (supposedly) albeit the villain could be amongst the crew we just don't know.
But if not, we could employ the GF gang to perhaps provide us Riddles for the con-goers to figure out.
Glad you guys like it, but I just took what Sparrow and Keastin said, and just threaded it with what other people mentioned earlier.
the distraction/getaway for "Con" would be the mosh pit ensuing, is what I envision. but then again it could be anything even a plume of smoke that he can disspear in.

True,
And that's supposed to cue Bollow who swoops in and says something like
"No River, BAD RIVER!"
LOL

Dragoncon is officially over, so I'm knuckling down on my notebook for C3 stuff. I use iWeb, so if anybody wants an idea for my work on layouts: www.kearstin.com
