Just for discussion!
We should find somewhere within walking distance that won't be too terribly expensive. River, you said you wife knew a lot of places?
My no's: Pizza Hut, it makes me very sick. Something in their sauce.

No worries, and thanks for posting this Sparrow, There's a ton of places in that area, Ram, Diner across the street (I can't remember the name) Shoeless Joe's Gino's East Harey Carey's (I think it's still there) Giodarno's anyhoo, even if it's a bit of a drive my wife will know what's in that area and give me a list. I'm at work at the moment so i'll have to do it when I get home. Thanks Sparrow. -River

Buying vendors food in exchange for staying in the hotel didn't work, so I'm not doing it again. PLUS... we have half the number of tables available now this year so I will actually be taking all the applications and hand picking them to make the dealer hall the BEST for the show.
I'm starting a new thread about that...

I think we figure on just paying for ourselves, but going somewhere as a group. Sound good to everyone?

Bollow,
That's where i was coming from as well. I wouldn't expect you to do anything other than join the event.

Are they within walking distance? I don't know Chicago very well and the driving there gives me the shakes, haha!

Hey Kearstin,
if Challenger Comics do attend Cyphan, then yes they would be invited.
However, i was thinking that the Meet & Greet would happen the weekend of the Con. i.e. thursday night before the con. This way most (if not all) vendors would be there and get a chance to chat, talk about what each other does, and just generally get to know one another.
I'm thinking meeting at another vendor's place wouldn't be adviseable. Traffic, extra gas being consumed, etc. If we meet somewhere close to the hotel i think it would be more reasonable for the other vendors (Especially those coming out of town) to meet there.
Nuttin' but luv for ya K!

I was suggesting it as if it were not the week of the con. Unless Bollow is going to provide everything for the vendors, which I'm sure funding won't allow it, vendors are going to spend money regardless of where this is. There isn't anything by Rosemont/Hyatt on River Rd but expensive restaurants (which are almost entirely all steak houses), a train station and overpriced parking.
Unless you wanted to take River Rd a nice chunk down the way (completely surpassing walking distance), then prepare for McDonald's and a shitty Steak n Shake.
Plus, since this isn't a Cyphan thing, it might be something you would all have to coordinate yourselves.
(Think of how SCF does their Meet and Greets on their own separate from Dragoncon every year)

Yeah, that's kind of what we expected. I'm personally willing to walk up to a mile for food, and honestly, McDonalds would probably suit us fine anyway.
We intended to coordinate it ourselves I think, staff would be invited to come along of course, but they don't need to worry about us.
River: We could always do it Sunday afternoon too! You have to pay for parking that day anyway iirc, might as well go after we pack up for a cool-down meal before we all split. I won't be there Thursday night anyway, so if you think that would be better you're kind of on your own for getting everyone together that day.

hey Sparrow, my feelings exactly to! Kearstin, Bollow had already stated that he wouldn't be spendign anythign on this, and I told him that I didn't expect him too. This is strictly for vendors and we would organize it. Albeit I always appreciate the enthusiasm and help! Sparrow, sunday sounds good actually! and we can discuss what worked or didn't work and I can always relay that to Bollow or if Bollow would like to join us, great! But i think he'll be very busy with breakdown and the chaos later that day. We would need the list of vendors/artists that are attending so we can extend them the invite. -River

We could always just make flyers and pass them out Friday and Saturday <_< Then we can all meet up somewhere in the hotel and make a mass exodus.

Sure thing, however, i think we should at least reach out to them, via email a week before the con to inform them, and we could reinforce it later during friday and saturday.
Meeting in the hotel would be good to. i'd definitly say we should have a place considered a few days prior to the con or at most, before we send out our initial email invite.

Sounds good to me! I think the closer the better, really, since we can just pack up our cars and then walk on out.
