Acen I wouldn't worry about unless you care if all the minors and under 25 audience don't show to yours. However, that crowd is so convention itchy all the time, I'm sure once they hear there's ANOTHER non-traditional convention to go to that they don't have to wait until next Acen's... if you build it, they will come. GFest is a Godzilla fest. Haven't been to it, but my buddy Billy (Who was the Godzilla walking around Cyphan, and in the contest) is heavily into. He even had his trailer to his Godzilla fan film show (which I am and a lot of us are in, too). Flashback I wouldn't worry about SO much unless you want to keep steering the horror scene into Cyphan. Which I honestly think you should because it's hot right now. Plus, I want Kitty to be at Cyphan forever And speaking to him about how Flashback WITH Wizard across the street this year? Yeah fuck that. I'm fine with whenever Cyphan is to be perfectly honest. I could care less about Wizard anymore, I'm too broke for SDCC, I'm going to my very first Dragoncon this year so that might be put into my future reservations. Long story short: c2e2 dcon cyphan ... are seriously all I care about. Acen sdcc wizard gfest flashback ... all that are just excuses for me to dress up lol

Don't forget GenCon! It might be a gaming convention, but it has a huge draw. One of my friends here couldn't come with to Cyphan because he was saving to go to GenCon the first weekend of August.

I've actually never been to GenCon. I feel that there are more and more conventions just being born, so I think instead of being picky on the date, I think we need to be picky on the audience. So, if gencon is focuses primarily on gamers, then we can be fine around that since we're a sci-fi. Acen? Anime. GFest? Godzilla, so on and so forth.
I would only STRATEGICALLY plan around the corporate or "pop culture because this is the only way to say we have everything" conventions since that's our REAL competition right now as we're still growing and haven't had a definitive group yet. (although it seems troopers and steampunk are it LOL)

I'd go a bit further than that and plan around the Chicagoland cons. The Wisconsin/Illinois/Indiana tri-state area is probably where a good portion of the attendees will come until Cyphan grows. And since I speak from experience that Milwaukee has nothing to offer for conventions, it's Acen, C2E2, Wizard, GenCon as the big ones. GenCon does draw costumers, but it's the least of the four. SDCC is still a big enough draw in July that it could be a factor. Dragon*Con... on further reflection, it might be far enough away to not be as big a conflict. And you will have a BLAST at D*C, Kearstin. Only reason my wife and I aren't going is that we're going to London and Paris a few weeks later, so the travel budget for D*C wasn't there.

Oh, please do! GenCon is to gaming what Wizard World is to... um, whatever Wizard World is supposed to be about. It's too expensive for what it is, poorly managed, and just not worth it. I would, however, like to see the Cyphan gaming room expand a bit. Again, I wish I was more people.

I liked the idea that was brought up of having an XBox in there, it seemed like there was some space that wasn't being utilized by other games.

Wizard’s is now a big corporate con and a huge mess. It’s Way too crowded with Terrible after parties. But it has huge media coverage, spots on the morning news, radio, and the weekend section of the paper. It’s fun but, Not that much fun.
This will be me and Kim’s first Dragon Con also.
It looks like we are stuck with the hotel for the pros and Cons.

I still honestly thought it was just fine. Having panels close by across the rooms helped. But maybe Bollow, is there a way to utilize that room that was NEXT to the ballroom? I remember that being the costume contest for Wizard last year, and it was decently sized (not for a contest but you know another room closer to have stuff in haha)
