River, I really like how your list progressed, and that would totally suit me as a person who goes to these just TO dance like an idiot.

Thanks Sparrow, My point exactly, it should progress naturally, not jump erratically from one extreme genre to the next extreme genre and then back again (A Hobbit's Holiday) and then 'oh look here's the opening credits to Voyager'. That just kills the mood for me. I'm there to dance with my wife and friends, have a few drinks, and be MERRY (Captain, I AM NOT A MERRY MAN)! As I said before, If I had my equipment, i'd love to don the headphones and put the microphone back in my hand. Heck Bollow has seen me DJ at our 501st MWG formal. But it's much smaller and it's my home set up. not what those guys had. Still, all being said, the DJ is the 'party master' he's gotta get people jumpin' out of their seats, moving around, laughing, screaming, hands pumping in the air. etc. AND gotta get on the mic, 'EVERYBODY HERE AT CYPHAN, LET'S MAKE SOME NOOOIISSSEEE"!!!! (calms back down) ok, sorry, my DJ persona was coming out again. anyhoo, just my .02 i really need to stop critiquing the DJ. i think i've likened it to beating a dead horse. -River

I don't know, a dead horse would have been a better DJ...

I do like lights/laser/projector though when it comes to a DJ. I have crazy a.d.d. so if the atmosphere looks like it's on speed, then I'll be rubbing my denim dick on everyone.

So, I had the idea while I was sitting while drawing on the rest of the wallflowers with sharpies... Here's a Grooveshark playlist of songs I think we'd like to hear and dance to, in no real particular order. Crossfade and enjoy. Some men just want to watch the world churn.Eventually I'll even move the order around to adjust for pacing. Having River do that would make my life a lot easier... I included some PM5K, Powerglove, V is for Villains, and other stuff that folk are likely to create a mosh pit to...it would be cool if the con had a "villain" (see Theme thread) who came in and jacked the ball to play the hard stuff! Suggestions welcome.

I'm at work right now, so i can't play the thread.
however, once i have some free time this weekend, i'll do my best to give it a good listen.
Thanks for posting this Vandal!

I feel like I should chime in with a list of popular dance songs that's crazy in. Ke$ha and all that crap. Just to denote what's in right NOW, but then again, some popstar might happen and have a fajillion hits next summer... like Jason Derulo haha

yeah that's the 'hiccup' in dj'ing.
You've got this awesome playlist all planned, then all of a sudden WHAM-O! you're hit with some New Kid On The Block who has some awesome songs and you're lookin' like a doosh cuz you had no clue.
The most recent stuff that i've come to enjoy are as follows:
Ke$ha Brittany (yes I said brittany) Lady Gaga Anything remixed by DJ Dark Intensity Bruno Mars One Republic
Drawing a blank on more, but that's at the top of my head.
still, i'm sure if i went home and started listening to the top ten playlist i'll find more.
There's always going to be some new stuff.

Evactuate the Dancefloor was around before it became a huge hit. I want to say at least 8 months to a year before.
I used to listen to XM radio's station named "BPM" and i remember hearing it on there.
No surprise as europe is huge on techno/dance music and it usually starts there before hitting US Radio.
New Lady Gaga sounds real commercialized I'll agree. But I still enjoy it. "Bad Romance' has to be my ultimate fav.

Oh yeah older Gaga is way better. Evacuate the Dancefloor is just still crazy popular because of Dance Central for Kinect. Comes up AAAALL the time in Pandora, too, still haha
