Yeah, he usually responds on Twitter too. We wished him happy birthday once just for kicks and he responded really quickly!

According to Ray Park's agent, they're in the middle of some stuff and we're waiting on a response on our inquiry.
Bollow has been out of town, he'll be back next Tuesday.

I sent Ray's handler a note last night asking for an update and he says Ray is shooting on location now and is hard to get ahold of, but he will keep after him. Even if Ray is free the weekend of Cyphan, if he's a 10k guarantee, forget it.
Another star I would love to get is Adam Baldwin from Firefly and a zillion other things. He's a Chicago boy too. The problem is he is also represented by Erin Gray (like Sam Witwer) and therefore they will cost more.
I'm just beating my head against a wall here. We did the expensive "A" lister (Jewel Staite) and no one came. We did the smorgasboard of stars (cy2) and no one came.
We NEED a celebrity guest of honor for sure but maybe it needs to be "thinking outside the box" like Kearstin is proposing with You Tube celebs (which also didn't work, just ask Ginny McQueen).
What about a mix like Timothy Zahn, famous star wars author or some popular voice-over actor, or a guy that created a major video game? I just don't know....

My vote gears towards YouTube celebs and voice actors. Which ever path you're going to take, it's going to be different than the results we've gotten with A-listers and B-listers, too, the past 2 years.
All I say, is that having just ONE celebrity will give us worse results, and having NO celebrities at all of any kind, I'll personally hand you your shovel lol

I emailed Doug Jones' rep to see what his fees are. I'm starting to like the idea of him more and more. Anybody else agree?

Bollow,
I think you need people who others can recognize names and/or characters. I'm still not completely sold on the YouTube celebs. Especially if EMT looks more like an ensemble vs. a stand alone.
the idea of some authors, artists, voice over actors, would give you more pull and spread your resources more evenly.
Can you imagine a promotional flier that has a picture of the person and next to them the character, show, book, that they are a part of?
I think we all should meet at Bollow's place. Discuss the budget, and the best way to appropirate resources.
we DO need celebrities, but only those that we can honestly see a good ROI.
I know capturing the younger market is good, but it also costs more $$$. if we can maintain a market and build from there, it will be easier to have more and more 'flavor's of the months' attend the show.
I'm not saying get 'older' stars, but those that will bring 'gauranteed' ticket sales.
I think another thing we need to do is promotion, i.e. posting up fliers in comic book stores, coffee shops, etc. anywehre that we can stick a flier.
I DO agree with Kearstin that having one celebrity is essentially putting your eggs into one basket.
Just becuase someoen shows up at Dragoncon or other major cons doesn't necessarily translate that they'll be affordable.
I like the idea of Baldwin, but for that matter, why can't we get Alan Tudyk who played Wash? he's in a slew of stuff and it would be cool to have him at the con. People know Alan Tudyk's character i think mostly due to his untimely but eventual demise!
Anyhoo, if you're going the Serenity route, that would be my vote, and the asian cosplayer that K had mentioned, she would be a good 'female' to pair up with him. and then a smattering of voice actors and what have you.

Ok. We can afford Doug Jones and he's free and wants to come. He'd be our MAIN celebrity.
Let's hear your thoughts!!

Bollow, if we get Doug Jones, and then try to get Cosplay for a Cause to come, with Riddle (aka Riki), has a female Hellboy costume, and I believe her name is Lindsay has a female Abe Sapien costume:

Doug Jones coming literally made me squeal. Very loudly. I woke up Van, who then squealed as well.
WE ARE SO STOKED.
